June 19: the rooster is still there in Grand Army Plaza. I talked to some park workers this morning who told me that they see him occasionally. They assured me that the sprays they've been applying to the vegetation lately should be harmless to chickens, but a greater danger is the "lynch mob of neighbors" they saw earlier this week, trying unsuccessfully to round up the rooster. I don't live close enough to the plaza to be woken at dawn by his calls, but many do.
